Yggdrasil Gaming needed an experience to promote their latest product; Vikings go to hell. I created an Augmented Reality Magic Mirror that turned guests into Vikings. The mirror was on the exterior wall of our castle-style exhibition stand and housed within a 3D-screen surround that displayed runes from the game.
The client wanted an unusual attractor that would also generate data for marketing. I worked closely with the artist who created the two 3D character models and adapted them for use within the AR app. Visitors chose to be a male or female Viking and moved freely as their character, before snapping a pic or recording a clip which was sent via email. All the branded content was shared on Yggdrasil’s social channels.
The Magic Mirror was a strong attractor, drawing people from the aisles. The tracking camera picked them up as they walked by and this piqued their curiosity. The engagement served as a valuable touchpoint by introducing the main game characters. Many engaged over the 3-day event, with the client able to reach out to new customers off the back of the data captured.
